12/3/1971	Hostilities broke out between India and Pakistan. On the very night that hostilities commenced, with Pakistan bombing several air fields, IN Ships 'Rajput' and 'Akshay' were leaving Vishakapatnam harbour when they obtained a sonar contact. They fired several depth charges and proceeded on their mission when there was no further evidence of a submarine's presence. Thereafter, a loud explosion of rattling windows panes off the Vishakapatnam beach was heard . The Pakistani submarine 'Ghazi' (a Tench class submarine obtained from the USA in 1964) had come to grief.

11/7/1991	Salauddin and his wife Neena create a world record by travelling in a Nissan car.
11/7/1991	Malik Kafur, Alauddin Khilji's Commander, won the impregnable fort of Devgiri. The fort was entered by the enemy. Raja Ramdeva was taken prisoner and sent to Delhi where Alauddin recieved him untill his death in 1312.
3/28/1996	JKLF declared unlawful by central govt.
12/6/1997	Space shuttle Columbia's astronauts return to earth following a two-week science mission on an enquiry awaiting them because of botched satellite release. Columbia and its crew of six, including India-born Kalpana Chawla, swooped through a clear chilly sky and landed on runway at Kennedy Space Centre. Astronauts save runaway $10-million satellite by catching it with their hands.
